Red Sox Nation

So, about a week ago (much to our surprise) we learned that Brad had been traded from the Colorado Rockies to the Boston Red Sox.  I was so looking forward to visiting Arizona for the first time (where the Rockies spring training is) but life proved once again how unpredictable it truly is.  We are not sure what this trade will lead to but we feel like things happen for a reason. Luckily I love the color red.. so Go Red Sox (for now at least ha)

Before & After: Built In addition

I hope everyone is having a great New year!

I really liked the built ins in our living room but wanted to find  a way to 'spruce' it up a little.  I didn't want to change the wall color so my mom-in-law and I decided to paint the back wall of the built in.

Before...

We decided on a soft GREEN color then....

Voila! We aren't finished decorating but we plan on closing the bottom left cabinet to hide the tv wires.

I am loving it so far.  It really brightens up the rooms!

I recently bought the cutest block print pillows from West Elm!  They are great accents to the living room.

Very Indian quilt and pillows I got for one of our guest bedrooms!

Hope everyone is having a great week! Until next time..

Chicago!

We recently took a last minute trip to visit my aunt and uncle in Chicago.. in December!  Luckily, the area is having a relatively "warm" winter meaning mid-20s.
It was hilarious watching my cousin, Veer, and his friend play Wii.
They kept jumping in circles and I have no idea why.

Pizzeria!

Deep Dish Pizza anyone?

First time in Wrigleyville

It was a short trip but we had a B-L-A-S-T!

Opinions Please!

I have been debating about a few particular pieces for the house for quite a while now.  I would love your thoughts!!

One thing that we have wanted is a small bar.  I really like this piece because it is actually 4 parts that can be arranged in any way.

I have been eyeing this rug for a while for the office or living room.

living room accent chairs?

This chair is really cool but I'm not sure if in a few years it would look dated?!

I love screens and I am not sure where I would put it...

or a colored screen?

Thanks for the thoughts!!

Wedding, Wedding, Wedding...

Just to preface this post:  This is our new blog as a married couple (mainly my new blog ha!)  I combined our last names, Emaus & Dhaliwal, to make emadhali pronounced E-Maddily!  I see this as a way to update friends and family on the ongoings of S-n-B's life.  Lots of Love.

Many of you have asked and finally I have followed through-- A vendor list!  I planned my wedding for almost a year and a half and researched many vendors in the South.  I have compiled a list of vendors I used/recommend as well as a notable list.  I must add that my dear family & friends really helped make my wedding amazing.  I do not know what I would have done without them!!

As most of you know I had a weekend full of functions:
Thursday-
Meet & Greet Fish Fry
Friday-
Mendhi & Churra
Ladies Sangeet
Saturday-
Wedding/Anand Karaj
Reception

My wedding vendor list:
Decor: Prashe Decor
-Expensive but she really produces an amazing final product!
Music: DJ Masai from Next Level
-He was amazing!  He brought a dhol player that was enthusiastic and fantastic.
Photography: Ragan Oswalt
-She had never done an Indian wedding before but you would never know that.  Ragan was easy to work with and determined to learn about the Indian culture so she could capture all the moments.  I've seen a few of the pictures and love what I've seen so far.
Videography: AnA
-Pricey but very professional and had great reviews.  They take about 4 months to produce the video but I am looking forward to the final product.
Event Coordinator: Jignasa
-She did an amazing job with the preparation.  On the day of the wedding/reception there was some confusion and some things were left undone.  Overall, I had a good experience but my advice is: Hire an event coordinator that is your culture/religion.
Hair & Makeup: Arlette Salon
-My bridal party and I got ready there for the reception.  They closed the salon for all of us and the hair & makeup was gorgeous on everyone.
Food: Catfish Cabin for the Meet & Greet
-Excellent food and service
Linda Peevey- Louisiana themed table for the Reception
-I heard her food was amazing and the presentation exceeded all expectations.
Ruchi's from Jackson for the Wedding & Reception
-His food was excellent but service and timeliness was mediocre
Drinks were supplied by Tiger Market- they have great prices and a wide selection!
Flowers: Martha from the Flower Shoppe
-Great to work with and she was super reasonable.  The flowers turned out beautifully!
Notable- Chris Allums- amazing florist
Cake: Thurman's
-The cake tasted great but I was disappointed in the way it decorated.
Tent- Taylor Rental
-The tent delivery and tear down was extremely hassle free!
Greenery decor (indoor & outdoor): Sonny Panzikos and Green Earth
-Green Earth spruced up the inside of the house and Sonny Panzikos did the outside.  Very easy to work with!

Venues:
Bayou Desiard Country Club
-Beautiful venue but there are so many rules/restrictions. Sometimes it is hard to get what you want (budget and decor wise).  Food was very good.
Monroe Civic Center
-Up until the day of the event they were very easy to work with.  Unfortunately on that day they were hard to get in touch with and our decor company had a difficult time working with them.  Overall, I had a decent experience with them considering the minimal cost of the hall.
